Death Meets Celtic Mythology

October 24, 2014

By Sarah M. Cradit

No Time to Cry is both highly original, and unpredictable. The story starts out in immediate chaos and action as the heroine is thrust into her new world, an effect that is equally as abrupt for her as it is for readers. We follow her into this new world, sharing her confusion, her frustration at not understanding who/what she is and what is expected of her, and her feelings about the people who are now her peers.

There is enough revealed in this first book to provide an exciting setup for whatever comes next. This first act is tied up well enough not to be exactly a cliffhanger, but with enough unresolved to make me need the second book, stat!

Also, I really appreciated the guides in the back, both a glossary and pronunciation guide for all the Gaelic terms used within the text. They can be daunting at times, but the reference materials help make that simpler to wrap your head around and learn alongside the protagonist.

A Wonderful Read

I was drawn in instantly into this book. The momentum never let's up and keeps your attention while building beautiful landscapes. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good fantasy novel, this isn't your ordinary story and that's a good thing.

What a Wonderful Imagination Ride

What a wonderful imagination ride! The characters are beautifully created, and the storyline grabs you from the first moment to the last. I was addicted at the start and spent a sleepless night enjoying the story my mind played as the moon made her way across the night sky.

It is official, I am addicted!

A Beautiful Blend of Reality and Fantasy

December 20, 2014

By Lisa Armano "Zen Rhino"

I couldn’t put it down!

A beautiful blend of reality and fantasy - the protagonist doesn’t get a moment to rest, nor does the reader. From the get go, our heroine is plunged into a world of strangers and uncertainty. The book moves quickly from one state to the next, both physically and esoterically. Intriguing characters, creatures, and myth are blended together for a unique perspective of life and the afterlife. A refreshing and unique view of the mysteries of Celtic culture.

For an opening book in a series, No Time to Cry gives enough back story and plot to be satisfying yet keeps so much open that we as readers are left suspended and longing for the next. A pleasant surprise for a debut novel - A fun read, can't wait for Book 2!

Fantastical, Whimsical Fiction At Its Best

May 29, 2015

This book really is a masterpiece of fantastical whimsical fiction. Isabelle dies at her 30th birthday party of all things and is ushered to her new life by the handsome Liam. Liam takes her Seattle where she must begin her life as Iliana, an usher for death. Here she meets Gideon, her Cerberus or protector and boss. All is not as it seems and Iliana is not what she seems either.

I'm not a spoiler giver, so I'll just say read the book and get swept away in the world of magic and whimsy. You won't regret it.

I really loved this authors descriptions on places, characters and feelings. I really felt like I could close my eyes and be inside the story.

I does end on a huge cliffhanger that had me saying 'no, no, no, no for fecks sake Gideon, open you damn eyes and heart'

I will be adding this author to my must have list.

WOW! LOVED it! What an incredible adventure! I really love every second of this wonderful story! It was full of mystery and secrets and hotties I must say.
We have Gideon, Liam, Michael and Collum. Way to mess me up with so many awesome guys. Of course I know only one will be the one for Iliana but who will it be???
I have to say that the "dreams" were some of my favorite scenes but nothing like the scene with Collum, I was really wanting it to happen, it was so good.
I liked the whole history behind what they do and what they are and the party was super awesome, not the first party tho, not her birthday party although that was what got her into the whole mess to begin with.
I have to say that I am still wondering what Iliana really is but I know she will be something super awesome once it is discovered and I think Collum knows exactly what she is. Gosh I really want to read the next book like now!!!
No boring parts and once you start reading you will not be able to put it down.
Super awesome story, like really awesome! I am going to recommend this one for anyone that likes to read some fantasy mixed in with a little paranormal.

Original, Suspenseful and Amazingly Written!

March 23, 2015

I could not stop reading it. I started one evening and spent the next day reading the rest. I could not let it go! I just had to know what happened. It was wonderfully written, the language was beautiful. The scenery and the characters were so alive. I fell in love with the men. It was so suspenseful, there was so much unsaid, so it kept me on my toes, needing to read to find out more. I was really original, I loved the Celtic mythology, and was as confused as the character of the meaning of the words. It was hard to remember the strange words, and remember the meaning, but the main character had the same trouble.

I would really recommend this to anyone who likes fantasy. I loved it. I can't wait to read the next book!

I Didn't Think That I Would Enjoy This Book

5 stars for No Time to Cry by Stasia Morineaux!! This is the first book in the Nine while Nine Legacy, and it falls in the fantasy genre. At first glance, I didn't think that I would enjoy this book, but boy was I ever wrong! The story line grabbed my attention from the very start and kept me glued to my Kindle. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I stayed up all night to finish it!

After suffering a huge heartbreak, Isabelle finally has her life back on track. She has a flourishing career, great friends, and an apartment that is perfect for her. However, it only takes a day for her to lose everything. While attending a party hosted by her friends for her 30th birthday, she has her first encounter with the handsome and mysterious Liam. He informs her that her life as Isabelle is over. After much arguing, she finally agrees to go to Seattle with him. Once there, she learns that she must start a new life as Iliana whose job just so happens to be an usher for death (I know, crazy right?). When she meets her new boss, Gideon, she is instantly attracted to him. I don't want to give too much of the story away, so I will just say that things get even crazier!

If you are looking for a really good read that is not the same old story told over and over again, this is the book for you! The book does end with a cliff hanger, but I promise it will be worth it! I can not wait to read the next book in this series!! So, what are you waiting for? One click it now!!

Great Series Debut

High octane spin on Celtic Fantasy meets Chick Lit is a surprising Mashup, but this book really works. The story starts right in the middle of the action and throws us and the protagonist into an afterlife world that none of us would expect. Isabelle is unexpectedly deceased, and thrust into a role as escort for recently deceased souls. Lots of plot twists, hidden allies and enemies, and sizzling hot romantic chemistry means this book never has a dull moment. My one complaint is that it ends on a nail-biting cliff, so now I have to wait for the next book to see how it all works out. Don't be put off by the mythic language-- there's a glossary in the back. Thanks again for the review copy! This was such an exciting read.

My Review of No Time to Cry

June 14, 2015

Tiffany Reid

Wow! I could not put this book down! From start to finish, I craved turning the pages of this unusual paranormal/contemporary romance novel! This is a very different kind of story and I love when an author can blend the old with the new and create such visually and emotionally captivating characters, as did Stasia Morineaux in No Time To Cry. I was given this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review and the first thing I did when I finished reading this story was to immediately seek out the second novel; alas, there is not yet one, but I am hopeful that I will get to read a lot more about Iliana and Gideon, as well as all of the other fantastic characters in this very well written book.

I do not write spoilers, but I will tell you that if you’re looking for that “something different” book that is engaging, funny, witty, and intense, look no further – you will find it here in this wonderful book by Stasia Morineaux.

I highly recommend this book!

Review: No Time to Cry by Stasia Morineaux

This book has a really grabby opener– it starts right bang on the action with no fooling around with scene setting or back story. Sometimes I find that disorienting. Here I found it engaging and suitable for the story, which follows the story of a *very* disoriented protagonist, Isabelle, as she navigates her new life-after-life career as an escort for recently deceased souls.

Suddenly Isabelle is catapulted into an unfamiliar world of hard to pronounce Celtic myth and legend, and her ability to fit in will determine whether she gets to keep her new life or not.  The reader, like Isabelle, has a lot to learn about the inhabitants and workings of this Celtic afterlife world. Fortunately the author has provided us with a glossary and a pronunciation guide!

Stylistically, it’s as if Chick Lit and High Celtic Fantasy had a love child. There have been other books that attempt a similar mash up and some that are quite successful, like Dead is the New Black. I think No Time to Cry is an even more ambitious mashup since it doesn’t just add supernatural elements to the modern world, but instead introduces us to a whole new mythology.

There’s a lot going on in this book. Mistaken and secret identities, behind the scenes plots and subterfuges, hidden enemies and secret allies, unknown powers, romantic subplots. It’s all a bit much to resolve in one novel so of course it doesn’t, ending instead with a cliff hanger guaranteed to have readers anxiously biting their nails in anticipation of the next book. Coping with cliffhanger endings and waiting for book releases are not strengths of mine, so I finished with a bit of pouting and foot stamping.

If you enjoyed the TV series Dead Like Me and/or Lost Girl, you’ll like this book. There seems to be quite a bit of angels and reapers type stuff around these days. No Time to Cry is a unique, well written, contender in this growing paranormal sub-genre. I lucked into a reveiwer’s copy, you can snatch up your own for only 99 cents right now on Amazon.

Manda's Five Star Review

June 16, 2015

Wow this book was amazing. It was exactly what I needed to get out of my book slump. I am a huge fan of paranormal books but very rarely find books in that genre that really stand out. From the very start this book stands out and completely captures your attention. Once I cracked the pages I could not put it down. The writing is fantastic and the storyline is amazing and original. This book does not read like it is written by a new author. The story is complicated and complex and reads as though written by a seasoned author. Some of the terminology can get a bit confusing at times, but the author provides us with a glossary and pronunciation guide in the back of the book to help you along.

The descriptions and imagery the author provides are beautiful and make you feel like you are really there seeing everything. The dream sequences are a perfect example of beautiful writing and fantastic story telling.

The characters are amazing as well. Isabelle is just getting her life back on track when the unexpected happens and she finds herself completely lost and confused. There is so much she doesn't understand and only has Liam and Gideon to rely on. The problem is they don't seem exactly sure what is going on either. There is so much more I want to know about Gideon and role he will play in this amazing adventure. He comes across as dark and broody but there is so much more to his character. So much mystery in this book and you just know that this is going to be an epic story. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book. I am hooked and Stasia Morineaux you have a new fan. This is a must read for all my fellow paranormal, fantasy fans.
